Julissa Guerra DDS
She was born and raised in Guatemala. As a teenager, her orthodontist enlightened her to what became one of her biggest passions: Dentistry. In essence, dentistry fulfills her strong desire to help people live better and healthier lives; it also combines her fascination for science, art, health care, and business management. She enjoys caring for others and guiding them to attain healthier smiles.
When she was 20 years old, her family moved to California, the placed she called home for the next 10 years. Moving to a new country came with many struggles, including learning a new language; but she was determined to become a dentist. She spent her first year in California mastering the English language before enrolling in college. A few years later, she graduated with honors at California State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and minored in Chemistry. During her undergraduate years, she was very involved with the local Pre-Dental Club, where she volunteered in different organizations and helped to create a community outreach program to teach oral hygiene at local elementary schools.
Julissa attended the University of the Pacific, Arthur A, Dugoni School of Dentistry to pursue her Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 2016. She then completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency through TUFTS University School of Dental Medicine. She fell in love with the diversity and exceptional beauty of the State of Maine, where she has lived for the past 4 years. Dr. Guerra enjoys trying new foods, learning new cultures, and cooking new recipes. She also spends some of her free time outdoors hiking, kayaking, and exploring new places.
She is very happy to be joining our team and offering her services to the local community. Not only is she passionate about providing gentle, anxiety-free dentistry, but also, she feels very strongly about staying current with new techniques, procedures, and technology under the guidance of evidence-based dentistry.
